1 Opening your speaking file

  1. Open Audacity in icons 64
  2. Find your file – studentboard – ICT – Podcasting
  3. Listen to your speaking
  4. Save project  as… into your own folder

2 Selecting backing music

  1. Go to Incompetech – Royalty Free Music
  2. The compose Kevin McCleod has given permission for people to use his music for free as long as they mention his name in their productions.
  3. Search for styles or moods that will suit your theme
  4. Listen to the music
  5. Download your chosen music to your folder

3 Combining the music and speech

  1. In Audacity, Open your music
  2. Select all (CTRL-A) and copy (CTRL-C)
  3. Go back to your speech in Audacity
  4. Make a new track
  5. Paste your music in the new track

** 4 Editing

  1. “Generate silence” at the beginning of your speech so that the music starts first and the speech starts a few seconds later
  2. Fade in the music
  3. Delete any extra music at the end
  4. Fade out the musc
  5. Balance the music and speech so you can hear the music but it is not too loud.
  6. Export the finished project as an mp3 into your folder
    1. upload to j2e files
    2. blog to your learning blog
