Y3: How do I prepare my buddy book for printing?

As you are finishing off your book, make sure:

  1. Everything is clearly inside the page
  2. There isn’t much white space
  3. Items are spaced equally
  4. Text is as big as it can be to fit the page

We need to turn pages 2 and 4 upside down so it prints properly – here is a video to help with this:

 

Y6 How do I use j2e with my Google account?

j2e and Google Apps

  • Go to j2e.com
  • Click Log in with Google
  • Go to My files, which will be empty (as this is a new account)
  • Right-hand click and select Import files
  • Enter your j2e details

Investigate and comment on any of these questions

  1. What different features does this j2e account have?
  2. Have the files gone from your old j2e account?
  3. Can you think of any advantages/disadvantages of using j2e through Google?
  4. Has everything transferred?

If you have finished, or while you are waiting for files to transfer:

  1. Practise your skill for your tutorial video.
  2. Go to Chrome Web Store
  3. Search for then download Screencastify
  4. Set it to save to your device
  5. Do a quick test recording

Teachers: What are the j2e tools and how do I use them (in the curriculum)?

  1. Open a new tab, go to j2e.com and log in (school: stmarks  user: bwilliams  password: )
  2. Your launchpad contains buttons linking to the j2e tools. (You can also add links to other websites from the library or manually)
  3. Explore a range of tools for 10 minutes
  4. The main j2e tool is j2e5 – a blank page to add text, shapes, pictures, videos, sound, animations to produce posters, pages, booklets, websites, worksheets…  Template pages can be easily shared with children.

Your challenge is to produce a growth mindset poster for your classroom using j2e5 (and by doing so, learn as much as you can about it)

Y4 How do I improve my animation?

  1. Open Pivot Stick Figure animator and open your animation from last week.
  2. Play it and look carefully at each part of the body: upper legs, lower legs, upper arms, lower arms – is each one moving correctly?
  3. Edit frames of your animation – do one body part at a time – see video below for instructions.

Success steps

  • Open Pivot program
  • Open and save – from your folder
  • Find how to find your folder – Computer – 4f/e/h – your name
  • Use simple tools
  • BE RESILIENT – keep going – don’s say/think “That’ll do”
  • USE YOUR GROWTH MINDSET

Y4: How do I create a stick man animation?

  • Open Stick Figure Animator: Start menu – all programs – Icons 64 or 86
  • To start with, just change the shape of the figure – can you make it into these shapes…?:
    • Running
    • In a star shape
    • Sitting down (on an imaginary chair!)
    • Doing a handstand
    • Swimming
  • Use one of the sequence of pictures on the sheets:
    • Put your figure in the first position
    • Click “next frame”
    • Put your figure in the next position
    • Click “next frame”
    • Keep doing this until you have made all of the pictures.
    • Play your animation!
      • Does it look realistic?
      • Is it smooth? (It will be jumpy if you have moved too much in between frames)
  • Save your animation in your file:
    • as animation
  • If you have finished, have a go at another one.
